In October, Minecraft developer Mojang announced that the second part of their gigantic Caves and Cliffs update would be available in "a month or two". It looks like it's almost time, as Mikael "slicedlime" Hedberg, the technical lead for Minecraft Java Edition, just tweeted something mysterious:

While it might not sound like much, the Mojang employees are famous for using Twitter to announce new features. The tweet's wording, specifically "preparing" implies that there will be a sequel to Caves and Cliffs.

Pre-releases usually occur only a few weeks or days prior to the official launch of the new update, and are used as a transition between "snapshots" which serve as a testing of new features that players can choose to use - and the full update, which should be as close to completion as it is possible. 1.17's last update was released on May 27th. The full update was released on June 8th.

What is this implying? We hope that it means that we won't have long to wait for the 1.18 update that will add a stunning new worlds to your Minecraft worlds. It could be out before the end of November!

Mojang also announced in this year's Minecraft Live presentation that the Deep Dark biome and its new mob, The Warden, would be delayed until 2022's update, The Wild.

Is your server set up for the update? Have you tried snapshots? Let us know in the comments!
