Minecraft Vita Rolls into EU next Week nA Date not Confirmed

Minecraft continues its charge onto new platforms with a European launch on Vita on October 15. 4J Studios, the UK team porting the sandbox game, tweeted that there's no an official date yet for North America, adding "hopefully we'll hear from you soon."



The portable version of Minecraft is cross-buyable with its PS3 counterpart, which means that when you've bought the game on PSN for PS3 you can get it free on Vita and vice versa. Minecraft Names The developer Mojang stated that the asking price was $20 per PS3. Saves can be transferred between PS3 and Vita and DLC purchases can be made across both editions.



At the time, Mojang said it was working with Sony to "look into ways to allow an upgrade from the Blu-ray disc version of Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition to Minecraft: Playstation 3 and Vita." We've contacted Sony to find out if players who have Minecraft on PS3 Blu-ray are also able to play the Vita version for free. We're waiting to hear release dates for the Vita retail version - next week's launch will be limited to PSN.

After being released on the current generation consoles' online storefronts Minecraft has its PS4 edition on retail shelves at the time of writing.
