YouTuber and Minecraft streamer Technoblade has died at the age of 23 after a year-long battle with stage four cancer.



The content creator came from San Francisco. He kept his identity confidential and only revealed his name as Alex in his final video. Alex gained fame when he started posting videos on YouTube of himself playing Minecraft in 2013. This led to him gaining more than 10,000,000 subscribers.



He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August. He had spent the majority of the year away from the media while undergoing chemotherapy. Minecraft



While it is not known what form of cancer Alex had, he went on to raise funds for sarcoma charities - and in December he revealed that he had undergone surgery to remove a tumor in his arm.



In a video posted to Technoblade's YouTube channel today, which was titled 'So long nerds', his father, whose name is unknown, shared the heartbreaking news of his son's passing with his many fans, while relaying a posthumous farewell from the famed YouTube star.



He called his son the "most amazing kid", and then shared an audio of his son who said: "If there were another hundred lives, I think Technoblade would be my choice every single time. Those were the most joyful years of mine."

Technoblade, a highly private individual who rarely shared personal details, posted mostly videos about the sandbox Minecraft game.



He had three younger siblings and a brother called Chris. He also had Floof, a dog named after him, in his farewell videos.



In one video, he revealed his parents were divorced and that he lived with his father, who owns a movie studio.



After graduating high school, he took a gap-year before moving to Chicago to study English.

However, he moved back home to San Francisco after dropping out.



In one of his videos, he explained how he created the Tecnoblade channel for the sole purpose of gaining confidence and getting 10 million subscribers.



He quickly amassed a following of millions, sharing with them multiple clips of himself playing Minecraft, although he never revealed his face or name to fans.



He shared the shocking news about his cancer diagnosis in August in a video called "Where I've Been", which has been viewed over 13 million times.



In the video, the actor revealed to his fans that he was diagnosed after he thought he suffered from an arm injury.
